Cielo Azul Elementary is proud to participate in the JDRF Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes!

Our school kicked off our JDRF Kids Walk on Monday, March 12th, 2018. Our students learned about type 1 and type 2 diabetes, healthy eating habits, and exercise. Students now have the opportunity to help support friends, classmates, and family members impacted by type 1 diabetes (T1D) by raising funds (with permission from a parent/guardian) for research. All donations should be cash or checks made payable to JDRF. We will not be participating in online fundraising. Details are included in the JDRF Kids Walk to Cure Diabetes collection envelope that was sent home with each child.

Each student that raises $5.00 or more will receive a special wristband! The top 3 fundraising students will also win a prize.

Walk Day is a celebration of what our students have learned and how they have helped. It will be held at Cielo Azul Elementary on Friday, March 23rd, 2018. Remember to send all donations back to school with your child on or before this date in their collection envelope. Please help us ensure your child receives credit for every penny raised by making sure the information on the envelope is completely filled out. Parents are invited to attend the walk to help celebrate our success, and we hope you will consider joining us. Please see your child's walk time below...

Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone people need to get energy from food. T1D strikes both children and adults suddenly. It has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Living with T1D is a constant balancing act. People, even children, must monitor their blood-sugar level, inject or infuse insulin through a pump and carefully balance their insulin with eating and activity throughout the day and night. There is nothing to prevent it or cure it. Yet. Please support JDRF’s vision of creating a world without T1D by getting involved today.

Thank you for your help with this exciting event!
